This website is run single-handed, so please understand that the slow progress is because all the webpages, graphics, eZine and book editing, plus everything else is currently done in my limited spare time.
Website History
This website was originally founded at the turn of the Millennium as a small homepage with just a few galleries showing my early digital work. It slowly developed to host other artist showcase pages which then went on to form the basis of the eZine project.
Interaction (Worldcon 2005) was an important event as it provided the opportunity for me to meet a few authors for the first time. This fuelled the eZine with works of fiction and so Estronomicon was born shortly afterwards.
After a relatively successful year producing the eZine, it was clear there was also demand for printed publications too. After numerous submission requests I decided to enter the small press domain and start publishing a few paperback books. So here I am.
It's still early days but I'm hoping with all the generous support and positive feedback everyone has given so far, this will continue grow into a long-term venture. Keep watching!
The Publisher
This website is produced and maintained by Steve Upham.
I was born and raised here in South Wales, UK. I have always been creative and am addicted to all things art-related. I enjoy everything from drawing, painting, sculpting, woodwork, photography and computer graphics. I am happy enough as long as I'm doing something creative with my time.
I have a BA (Hons) in Design and have been running my own craft workshop for over a decade. It certainly doesn't make me rich but I enjoy the work. I also do freelance illustration, write articles for computer magazines, create software resources for digital artists, plus of course am now starting to edit and publish books as well. So you can imagine how busy my life really is!
Unfortunately in the summer of 2008 I was admitted to hospital with a serious heart condition, which has slowed me down a lot. I am currently still undergoing further tests and treatment but seem to be fairly stable at the moment. Fingers crossed that the docs can keep it that way! I am doing my best though to continue with the SD website and book publishing, don't worry.
I hope you enjoy visiting this website and viewing what's on offer here.
Yes, that's me!
