Following the successful response to the eZine project I decided to expand on the available PDF downloads with some longer works. You will need Adobe Reader installed to open and view the eBook PDF files.

All eBooks in this section are FREE, so please download them to sample the work by each author. If you like what you read then don’t forget to check out the Books in Print section to see if they also have any work currently in print with SD.

Medea's Children by Lee Moan

Anya watched the creature crawl across the dry, cracked earth, a trail of thick mucus staining the reddish-brown soil behind it. Finally, its strength gave out. It rolled slowly onto its back and stared up at her. Hatred glistened in its wet, reptilian eyes.

She had fired only once, but by now she knew exactly where to hit them. The creature’s innards were leaking from the gaping hole in its torso, its organs already beginning to liquefy. It would not be long for this one. She had to be quick.

She holstered her pistol, her long leather coat snapping noisily in the buffeting wind, and crouched down close to it. But not too close.

SUBMISSIONS

The eBooks allow for longer free samples of work to be published, so are ideal for novella-length stories or even full novels. Short story collections are also welcome. This provides authors with a good way to showcase more of their work.

This project is non-profit and as such there will be no payments available to contributors I'm afraid. I have to rely on the generosity of free content to keep this alive. It also provides free extra exposure for your work, of course!

All submissions remain Copyright of each contributor and will be clearly labelled. If you would like to contribute then please contact me for more information.

Please do NOT e-mail me any image or file attachments UNTIL told to do so, as they will be automatically deleted by my spam filters. Send a plain text e-mail to explain what you would like to submit. I will then get back to you and provide further instructions on how to send your work.

Formatting Rules : Short stories and all other text material should be saved in Rich Text (*.rtf) or Word (*.doc) format. Use single line spacing, NO headers or footers, and please do NOT use underline instead of italics!

Word count for eBooks should be between 10,000 and 40,000 words.

All artwork should be saved in JPEG (*.jpg) format and be approx 800 pixels wide by 1000 pixels high max, but higher-res images are welcome. Make sure any cover pieces have enough free area to allow for the title overlays.
